Tesla's Feeling the Pain of Lower Pricing, but This EV Maker Isn't. Is the Stock a Buy?

Image
Purchasing an electric car is now more affordable than it has ever been. Global automakers are cutting the cost of their electric vehicles and releasing more affordable models. They've noticed the effect on their bottom line. Even the market leader in electric vehicles with the strongest brand, Tesla (TSLA 2.22%), was forced to lower pricing. It now intends to produce a car in Germany for 25,000 euros, or somewhat less than $27,000, according to a Reuters story. Tesla has seen a decline in profit margins due to decreased prices. Compared to the same period previous year, its cost of goods consumed 7.2% more of its sales in the most recent quarter. Yet, BYD (BYDDY -0.21%), its largest opponent in the EV production market, has not encountered the same difficulty. In fact, over the same time frame, it was able to raise its gross margin on auto sales by three percentage points. And right now, the stock is available for a very attractive price The soon-to-be biggest EV maker BYD is grow...

Shibarium Wallets Hit 1M Mark Amid Ongoing Shiba Inu (SHIB) Price Challenges

Image
Less than a week after the mainnet bridge started operating at its best, the total number of wallets communicating with Shiba Inu's layer2 network, Shibarium, crossed the 1 million threshold earlier today. The Shibarium bridge had issues prior to its August 28 debut, including transaction delays and briefly unavailable funds. Lead developer Shytoshi Kusama allayed the neighborhood's concerns by claiming that their finances were "safu." Shibarium Wallets Crosses 1 Million The bridge has seen engagement from more than 1 million wallets, according to statistics from Shibarium Scan. With an average of over 73,640 transactions each day, these users have conducted over 783,000 transactions in total. Notably, there are presently 421,736 total blocks on the blockchain. Despite the increase in transactions, the amount of total assets locked on the bridge has not yet increased noticeably. The current amount is a paltry $1.16 million. According to DeFillama data, decentralized...

Oil Reaches New 2023 High

Image
As declining inventory levels alarmed the market, the price of a barrel of WTI crude oil rose to $85 on Friday, the highest level so far this year. Around 10:00 a.m. ET, WTI crude oil dropped to $84.90 per barrel after briefly reaching $85 per barrel. In November 2022, WTI last traded at a price that h igh. A new 2023 record was also set by Brent crude oil, which was trading $1.05 per barrel, or 1.21%, higher on the day at $87.88. The United States' declining crude oil stocks, which fell by another 10.6 million barrels for the week ending August 25, according to the Energy Information Administration, are a significant contributing reason to the rising price of crude oil. The OPEC+ coalition, which includes major players Saudi Arabia and Russia, is another factor supporting high oil prices. The two sides have agreed to reduce production, and Russia has announced it will give further information next week. The prospect that Saudi Arabia or Russia might broaden or intensify their pres...

Due to "good reasons," unemployment rises to 18-month high as more Americans find employment.

Image
According to figures released on Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the jobless rate rose to its highest level since February 2022 in August. However, an increase in the unemployment rate to 3.8% from 3.5% may not be a terrible thing for the state of the US job market as a whole. Thomas Simons, a US economist at Jefferies, said in a report on Friday that "this was one of those 'good reasons' increases." "More supply is welcome given the tight labor market, but it can take some time for new entrants to find a fit," The civilian labor force expanded by 736,000 people in August compared to July. Since hitting 63.3% in February, the labor force participation rate has increased, reaching 62.8% in August.  Over the past year, the US economy has welcomed 3.1 million more citizens back into the workforce. A further indication that the labor market after the pandemic, as defined by the "Great Resignation," is returning to "better balance" i...

People Seem to Think AI Is the Best Investing Opportunity of Our Lifetime. How True Is That?

Image
Many sectors, including other cutting-edge technology, are impacted by AI. Earlier this year, artificial intelligence (AI) boosted numerous tech companies. After the largest tech sell-off since the financial crisis in 2022, OpenAI's ChatGPT helped rekindle interest in AI equities. However, firms like Google parent Alphabet asserted in 2016 that they were a "AI first" corporation. Additionally, Apple has long supported AI and machine learning research, and many others have benefited from the technology for many years. You could be wondering whether AI is one of the best investment opportunities of our lifetime or if it will fall short of other key historical chances to drive profits because it has long been an unnoticed trend. The impact of cutting-edge technologies You might be able to see how AI could become one of the best investing possibilities yet, if not the greatest, notwithstanding AI-driven advances in previous years. The largest tech companies of today were mos...

One of the Biggest Cable Companies Says Cable TV Isn’t Working

Image
One of the largest cable providers in the country has a message for the major media businesses that it partners with in a long-standing industry: The existing cable-TV model must be fixed or abandoned. Charter Communications said in an 11-page presentation to investors on Friday that cable TV has grown too expensive for both users and providers, adding that cord-cutters and rising costs are causing a "vicious video cycle." The presentation takes place in the midst of negotiations between Charter and The Walt Disney Co., which owns well-known cable channels like ESPN and FX. Until these negotiations are concluded, Charter's almost 15 million pay-TV subscribers won't be able to access Disney's channels. Spectrum TV customers of Charter will be Channels may go dark on cable systems for days or weeks while cable operators and content creators negotiate the value of the channels and how to package them. These so-called carriage wars are prevalent in the media industry...

Fantasy Football: 7 popular running backs to consider avoiding in 2023 drafts

Image
Najee Harris While a foot issue may have contributed in part, Harris clearly had a difficult season. Whether on purpose or not, Jaylen Warren has transformed the Steelers' backfield during the preseason into a full-fledged committee. Warren outperformed Harris as a rookie last year (he did, of course, benefit from the circumstances), and he has been even more impressive this preseason. Harris only had one carry that went over 20 yards last season, but Warren recently took a 60+ yarder to the house! There could be a running back issue for the Steelers. Rhamondre Stevenson Stevenson is a great running back who is also effective and adaptable. He will undoubtedly have a successful season. But it seems like there are still too many fantasy managers (as well as different gurus) who are unaware of Ezekiel Elliott's expected position for the New England Patriots. I ask you to keep in...

Here's why I'm finally giving up my iPhone 12 Pro Max in favor of the iPhone 15 Ultra.

Image
Yes, I get to use the trendiest and best phones every day for work, but when it comes to purchasing a new phone for myself, I'm incredibly fussy (and frugal). In actuality, I've had the reliable iPhone 12 Pro Max for about three years, and only now has it begun to age poorly.  For instance, I've seen that after numerous iOS updates, the battery life isn't as excellent as it once was and that sometimes apps take a long time to start or crash for no apparent reason. But the camera is where I have the most issues. It's fine, but the 48MP primary sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro Max's has made me envious of its quality. but not sufficient to improve. Periscope zoom is coming  I must admit that I sigh each time I use my iPhone 12 Pro Max's 2.5 optical zoom feature. Particularly considering that the Pixel 7 Pro has a 5x periscope zoom and phones like the Galaxy S23 Ultra provide two telephoto lenses with magnifications of 3x and 10x.  A lighter titanium design The iPh...

Cables are eliminated with a new GPU power connector, which delivers more than 600W

Image
Official documentation for a new customized HPCE power connection standard designed to transmit more GPU power across the motherboard has been made available by @momomo_us on X (Twitter). The new connector's paperwork shows all of its important technical details, including its capacity to deliver more than 600W of power even more power than the current 12VHPWR connector offers. The HPCE power connector functions very much like a PCI Express connector, according to the documentation. There are four groups of pins in total, including 12 pins for signaling or communication between the mainboard and the graphics card and 16 pins for power delivery. The size of the connector is comparable to a PCIe x1 connector. The HPCE power connector, when installed on a motherboard, sits beneath the primary PCIe x16 slot, where the motherboard chipset heatsink typically goes. This makes the installation procedure simpler by enabling the graphics card to be inserted into both the x16 connector and ...

After weak GDP and jobs data, the Dow Jones loses ground, and Tesla stock declines on a sell rating.

Image
After weaker-than-expected ADP employment and GDP reports on Wednesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gave up some of its early gains. Markets closely watched Hurricane Idalia as it approached Florida's coast. And when Guggenheim issued a sell rating on the EV juggernaut, Tesla stock fell. Dalia was reduced from a Class 4 to a Class 3 hurricane when it approached the coast of northwest Florida, with maximum sustained winds decreasing to 125 mph. Before the hurricane, the authorities issued evacuation orders for more than 30 counties. According to ADP's National Employment Report, firms hired 177,000 new employees in August, which was less than the 200,000 estimate and a decrease from the 324,000 new hires in July. The ADP data serves as a preview of the Labor Department's Friday jobs report. In addition, the second estimate of second-quarter GDP from the Labor Department was reduced from 2.4% increase from the first estimate to 2.1% growth. Key earnings movers on Wedne...

American second-quarter GDP growth was downgraded.

Image
Although second quarter U.S. economic growth was downgraded to a still-stable rate, third quarter momentum seems to be picking up as a tight labor market supports consumer spending. According to the government's second estimate of GDP for the months of April and June released on Wednesday, the economy grew at an annualized pace of 2.1% last quarter. From the 2.4% pace that was published last month, that was lowered down. GDP for the second quarter was not expected to be revised, according to economists surveyed by Reuters. In addition to company expenditures on equipment and intellectual property items, the change indicated downgrades to inventory investment. Although the Federal Reserve has increased interest rates by 525 basis points since March 2022, the economy nevertheless expanded at a 2.0% annual rate in the first quarter. It is growing far faster than the 1.8% non-inflationary growth rate that Fed policymakers consider to be the norm. The robustness of the economy increas...

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy’s brutal message to remote workers refusing to come back to the office: ‘It’s probably not going to work out for you’

Image
Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon, appears to have lost patience with remote employees who refuse to return to the workplace. Some of the biggest corporations in America have struggled with the return to work issue due to employees who want to maintain their pandemic-era flexibility, including Meta, Disney, and Starbucks. Unfortunately for Amazon's executives, calling employees back to work has generated a lot of controversy. And it appears the Amazon CEO has run out of options after receiving everything from criticism to staff petitions. Jassy is said to have laid down the challenge at a fireside chat known as a "fishbowl" earlier this month, implying that if employees didn't return to their desks they would be fired. Jassy was heard saying, "It's past the time to disagree and commit," in an audio that Insider was able to secure. We are returning to the office at least three days a week, so it's not appropriate for some of our teammates to be in three d...

Stocks rise as investors look to coming inflation, jobs data: Stock market news today

Image
Wall Street was ready for Thursday and Friday's important inflation and jobs statistics when it opened on Monday, disregarding the cautionary tone of Fed Chair Jerome Powell's remarks last week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) rose 0.6%, or more than 200 points, while the S&P 500 (GSPC) grew 0.6%. In the closing trading days of a rocky August, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) gained 0.8%, recording a victory. The Dallas Fed's monthly manufacturing report was the most prominent item of economic data at the beginning of the week, while the economic and earnings calendars were sparsely filled with no significant earnings announcements. The manufacturing sector in Texas continued to decrease, according to that report. More market watchers are preparing for a prolonged era of higher interest rates, even as predictions of a US recession have cooled or changed in recent weeks. Despite being cautious and balanced, Powell's address in Jackson Hole on Friday morn...

Gold races past $2,000/oz after weaker U.S. data

Image
April 4 (Reuters) - Gold extended gains on Tuesday and crossed the key $2,000 level as the dollar and yields fell, while weaker U.S. economic data emboldened bets for slower rate hikes despite mounting concerns over oil-led inflation. At 11:30 a.m. EDT (15:30 GMT), spot gold surged 1.7% to $2,017.89 per ounce, reaching its highest level since March 9, 2022 at $2,024.79 earlier. Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures rose by 1.8% to $2,036.20. Silver also gained, rising by 3.2% to $24.75 per ounce, platinum by 2.7% to $1,011.95, and palladium by 0.6% to $1,468.52, all buoyed by gold's upward momentum. According to David Meger, director of metals trading at High Ridge Futures, gold is in a positive environment due to slowing economic data and persistent inflationary pressures. Furthermore, the dollar's decline, following weak U.S. job opening and factory order data, has made gold more attractive, especially to traders holding other currencies. In addition, gold's role as a preferred in...
